joceyln bailey color smJocelyn is a longtime editor who specializes in fiction, nonfiction, and academic books. While working on her MA in English at Boston College, she began her first publishing internship at Beacon Press, where she was happy to be paid in books. After graduating, she joined the fiction division of Thomas Nelson Publishers (now part of HarperCollins). In 2015 she earned a PhD in English from the University of Arkansas.

After another tenure at HCCP as an acquisitions editor of fiction, she continues to work for publishers and individuals as a writer, editor, and coach. She has loved working on books by Ann Voskamp, Vanessa Miller, Sean Dietrich, Jen Hatmaker, Mimi Matthews, and many other talented writers.

Her goal is to preserve each author’s unique voice while guiding every idea and detail into place, so she is pleased to focus her attention on both the content and style of any project that comes her way. Her background as a college-level instructor of writing and literature also gives her a keen understanding of audience and technique, and her industry knowledge informs her many conversations with writers who need help identifying their publishing goals. These days she resides in Tennessee, where she tends her garden, tests recipes, and tries to keep up with the laundry.
